'Hip Hop Squares': New Game Show Coming To MTV2!

Nick Cannon, Mac Miller and Fat Joe will help put fresh spin on iconic 'Hollywood Squares' with new show, set to premiere May 22.

Hip-hop is going Hollywood — or is it the other way around? On May 22, MTV2 will premiere "Hip Hop Squares", a fresh new take on the iconic tic-tac-toe game show "Hollywood Squares."

Nick Cannon, DJ Khaled, Fat Joe, Mac Miller and Machine Gun Kelly will be featured as contestants. "Jackass" crewmember Bam Margera, Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker LaMarr Woodley and Wu-Tang's Ghostface Killah also will appear on the show, hosted by New York radio DJ Peter Rosenberg.

" 'Hip Hop Squares' is a great representation of MTV2's new brand filter to deliver smart, funny and relevant content that speaks directly to male Millennials, or 'Malennials,' as we call them," said Paul Ricci, head of programming for MTV2. "The show will refresh an iconic format and create a fun, dynamic series that's unpredictable, heavy on personality and much more 'party' than 'game show.' "

If the new incarnation of "Squares" stays true to the original, two contestants (one representing "X," and the other representing "O") will compete for prizes in a trivia-styled game where the show's stars are situated on a giant tic-tac-toe board.

The contestants strategically select which square they wish to capture and ask the star seated there a trivia question. After the question is answered, the contestant can choose whether to agree or disagree. If the contestant is right, they capture the square; if he or she is wrong, their opponent wins the square. The first contestant to line up three squares in a row wins the game.

"They cross the spectrum from musicians and celebrities to athletes and casual fans of hip-hop," Paul Ricci, MTV2′s programming chief said. "The show will refresh an iconic format and create a fun, dynamic series that's unpredictable, heavy on personality and much more 'party' than 'game show'."

Sounds like a ball.

Tune into the premiere of "Hip Hop Squares" at 11 p.m. ET/PT on Tuesday, May 22, on MTV2!

Spike Lee and Geraldo: Why is a good apology so hard to find?

The number of reported public apologies has skyrocketed recently, yet the quality of those apologies is plummeting. The trend appears to have captured Spike Lee and Geraldo Rivera.

Public?apologies are so common these days that?multiple websites have sprung up just to keep track of who is asking forgiveness of whom. Effectiveapologies.com, for instance, has a running ?apology of the week,? and the just-launched terribleapologies.tumblr.com?ranks the worst of them.

This week alone, Geraldo Rivera and Spike Lee are in the apology corner being assessed, evaluated, and rated on the details of their infraction and the effectiveness?and sincerity of their public efforts to make amends.

This?critical scrutiny of public manners leads to?some obvious?questions about why we are seeing such an extended effort to recover after making a highly visible faux pas: Why does it seem so hard to?apologize these days ? have we all forgotten simple?early lessons about how to say ?sorry??

?We are in a pandemic of bad behavior,? says Dr. Aaron Lazare, chancellor and dean?emeritus of the University?of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester and author of the 2004 book, ?On Apology.??

He has?studied the frequency of?apologies in published news reports from 1900 to the present day and says since the 1980s, ?the number of apologies has tripled.??But, he adds, the effectiveness and sincerity of those apologies has?plummeted.

?Most of these people simply want to have their cake and eat it too,? he says, noting that the key to a genuine apology is humility and restoration of dignity for the offended party.

?What we?re seeing now is most of these apologies are simply efforts at self-justification and an attempt to show how brilliant they really are, rather than any thought about the victim,? who more often than not, ends up being blamed,?he adds.

Mr. Rivera has spent the past?week fending off?criticism of his efforts to apologize for his comments?that the Florida teenager Trayvon Martin might not have been shot had he not been wearing a hoodie.

Spike Lee, meanwhile, has been knocked for merely tweeting his apologies to a?Florida couple whose address he mistakenly passed along as being the home of the neighborhood watch volunteer who shot and killed?the Florida teen.

The 24/7 media culture is partly responsible for the explosion of apologies, says Ari Kohen, an associate professor of political science at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.

A hyper-connected online culture means more and more opportunities to say or do something offensive, he notes. This also means that ?more and more people are watching, listening, and most importantly ?sharing? the offensive thing that someone has said or done,? he says via e-mail, adding, ?so we're seeing the offensive statement or action more than perhaps we would have, which yields more calls for apology, which in turn yields more and more terrible apologies.?

Professor Kohen and a student?launched the terribleapologies blog two days ago in response to?Rivera?s apology quagmire, with the intent of studying just how bad an apology can be, he says.

?It?s tempting to think that these bad apologies don't matter for the people who make them,? he says, citing both Rivera and conservative radio show host Rush Limbaugh, who?issued what many dubbed a non-apology?after calling a Georgetown University law student a ?slut? and a ?prostitute.??

?That must be what Rush Limbaugh and Geraldo Rivera are hoping ? but I think that the public won't be so fast to forget. Indeed, with social networking, my sense is that a bad public apology can hang around for a really long time and can have fairly serious adverse effects (like the campaign targeting Limbaugh's sponsors, for example). Indeed, there's more interest in bad apologies right now than I might have thought,? he says.

The polarization of public life has made it harder than ever to find the space for real repentance, reform or?forgiveness, says Conservative Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, who is running for Congress in New Jersey.

?I?ve long thought Elton John had it right when he said sorry is the hardest word,? he says, but a growing culture of meanness is making it harder. ?Someone makes a mistake and we carve them up with knives,? he says, adding, ?Do we really want to live in a world where?people can make one mistake and that?s it??

(AP) ? A snowplow driver and his wife went to great lengths to dispose of the body of a popular teacher they had just beaten and strangled, putting her nude body on a tarp, pouring bleach on it, weighing the corpse down with concrete blocks and tossing it into the Connecticut River, court documents allege.

Allen Prue, 30, and his wife, 33-year-old Patricia Prue, were riding around when he got the idea "to get a girl," a police affidavit said. They are accused of luring single mother Melissa Jenkins from her home by pretending their vehicle had broken down. Her vehicle was found idling Sunday with her unharmed 2-year-old son inside.

The couple pleaded not guilty Wednesday to second-degree murder in the death of Jenkins, a 33-year-old science teacher at the prestigious St. Johnsbury Academy, and unauthorized burial or removal of a dead body. More charges are possible, police said.

People in the close-knit communities of northeastern Vermont had been speculating about the crime and who was responsible.

"But they didn't expect the gruesome" details, said a tearful Marion Beattie Cairns, the owner of The Creamery Restaurant, where Jenkins had worked part-time as a waitress and people had gathered since her disappearance to console each other.

Vermont State Police Maj. Ed Ledo said he hoped the arrests would bring closure for Jenkins' family and friends.

"We can now turn our full attention to healing from this tragic loss, celebrating Melissa's life and mourning her death," said Joe Healy, a spokesman for St. Johnsbury Academy, which will hold a memorial service for her on Friday. The school counts President Calvin Coolidge among its alumni.

Police said the Prues hadn't planned a use of force. But they gave few details on a possible motive in Jenkins' death. The Prues were ordered held without bail.

"They knew Miss Jenkins and had snowplowed her driveway a couple of years ago," Vermont State Police Maj. Ed Ledo said at a news conference announcing the arrests.

A friend told police that Allen Prue had asked Jenkins out a couple of times and that she felt uncomfortable around him, according to the documents. She stopped having him plow, and in autumn 2011 he showed up drunk at her home asking if he could plow her driveway the following year.

After the court appearance, Allen Prue's mother, Donna Prue, said that her son has never been in trouble with the law before and that she has faith he didn't commit the crime.

"I do not believe he would ever do this, because he didn't have it in him. I have nothing against her (Patricia); I don't have nothing bad to say about either one," said Donna Prue, who lives with the couple and her daughter. She said she did not know Jenkins.

Police were called Sunday night after Jenkins' son was found alone in her vehicle.

Her former boyfriend told police she called him saying that she had gotten a weird call from a couple who used to plow her driveway and that she was going to help them. She wanted someone to know what she was doing, the documents say.

When he couldn't reach her two hours later, he went to check on her. He told police he found her vehicle, with her son sleeping in it, and one of her shoes nearby.

Allen Prue later told police that Patricia Prue had called Jenkins and said they were broken down hear her home, documents said.

The police affidavit said:

When Jenkins got out of her vehicle, Allen Prue grabbed her and strangled her. He then put the body in the backseat of their car, and they drove to their home. At some point, Patricia Prue choked Jenkins in the car "to ensure she wasn't breathing."

Back at their home, he put Jenkins' body on a tarp, removed her clothes and poured bleach on her body. The Prues also removed their clothes and put them on the tarp.

They then drove to a boat access at the Connecticut River, which separates Vermont from New Hampshire, and put Jenkins' body in the water, weighing it down with cinder blocks and concealing it with brush.

Pink Slime, Deconstructed

?I don?t eat school lunch anyway . . . It looks weird.?

BPI / The Atlantic

BPI / The Atlantic

This is from a high school student, quoted in the New York Times over the weekend, in response to a seemingly ?beefless? future in school cafeterias. Most of the recent media outcry surrounds ?pink slime,? the low-fat filler used to bulk up many processed meats. Coverage focuses on schools, where parents and administrators alike worry about students? exposure to ?chemically-treated? foodstuffs and poorly-labeled processed meat.

The low-cost, nutritious school lunch has long been an American institution. Smaller school budgets and larger student populations have led to schools cutting costs wherever possible. When industrial beef producers suggested a newer, cheaper?meat alternative back in the early ?90s, cash-strapped school districts happily agreed.

In 2010, Michael Moss of the New York Times won a Pulitzer for reports probing the processing end of the beef industry. He was among the first to explore the sterilization process, microbial testing, and potential contamination recalls over the past decade. Today, more journalists, along with celebrity chefs, moms, and school officials have all taken up torches and pitchforks against ?pink slime?. Online articles address a myriad of questions: Where does this product come from, and where does it end up? Is it OK to eat? Why aren?t all the ingredients labeled? How is it made, anyway?

But thus far, no one has really satiated my curiosity?what, exactly, is ?pink slime??

What Pink Slime Is, and What It?s Not

Let?s address the name ? there?s undeniably an ??ick factor??ever heard anyone use [slime] in a positive way?? (Borrowing a pithy phrase from Deborah Blum, who covered the subject for Discover Blogs)

Well, if you come from the meat producers? camp, you instead refer to ?slime? as lean, finely-textured beef, or LFTB.?Connective tissue, trimmings, and scraps from industrial butcher plants are mixed in a large steel reactor, where technicians heat the mixture to 100 oF, initiating tissue lysis ? fats and oils begin to rise up, while thicker bits like protein sink. After a spin on the centrifuge to separate these components, lean, squishy pink goo emerges. Ammonium hydroxide ? ammonia dissolved partially in water ? sterilizes the resulting mass against microbes such as?E. coli or Salmonella. (Side Note: a similar product, finely textured beef, uses citric acid in place of ammonia to eliminate pathogens). Once extruded, the ?slime? can be blended into hamburger, hot dogs, and other products, or frozen into pellets for shipping and storage.

But, is it nutritious? Consumers can certainly make valid arguments regarding LFTB?s content: there?s less overall ?functional? protein than that found in other meat products. An analysis conducted at Iowa State University (A.S. Leaflet R1361) found two-and-a-half times more insoluble protein (77% vs. 30%) relative to soluble proteins in ordinary ground chuck. Nutritionally, our gut bacteria digest much of what we cannot, but there?s a good bet that we can?t get as much value from insoluble proteins (collagen and elastin, found largely in tendons, ligaments, and cartilage) as from their soluble siblings (myosin and actin, usually associated with muscle tissues). While these proteins may be hard to digest, on the plus side, there?s less fat in LFTB (~5%) than standard ground chuck (15-20%).

For those revolted by these contents, or even the thought of anything referred to as ?slime? crossing their plates, I have two comments: first, consider Jell-O. The packaging only lists a single ingredient, which reads: gelatin. If you were to tell a child that ?gummy worms? and other wobbly treats were made from steamed animal bones, would they really want dessert?

Second, consider checking the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), the U.S. Gov?t standards used to coordinate aspects of daily life ranging from taxes to farming. In 9CFR 301.2, a collection of terms used in the meat packaging industry, we see the following definition for meat:

?The part of the muscle of any cattle, sheep, swine, or goats, which is skeletal or which is found in the tongue, diaphragm, heart, or esophagus, with or without the accompanying or overlying fat, and the portions of bone?skin, sinew, nerve, and blood vessels which normally accompany the muscle tissue, and are not separated from it in the process of dressing.?

Pretty gruesome reading, true, but realize that this explanation covers everything bought at the butcher, so think carefully when considering catch-all meat products like grounds, mush, pastes, or loaves. In this light, ?slime? doesn?t seem half as bad; as a culture, we?ve implicitly agreed that throat, blood, and tendons are already on the menu.

Ammonia and Other Additives

Since we?re checking the CFR, let?s consider all the other approved meat additives we encounter there. Mosey on over to 9CFR 424.21 to find a table, no less than 20 pages in length, of all the allowable additives used in meat processing: tenderizers, emulsifiers, denuders, binders, bleaching agents, and sweeteners, all on display for the discerning diner?s palate. Compared to ?pink slime? seeing only brief ammonia exposure, I?m more inclined to be suspicious of sausage.

Speaking of additives, what about the ammonium hydroxide? As Blum points out, you?ve eaten it before: close molecular cousins ammonium chloride (NH4Cl) and ammonium phosphate [(NH4)3PO4] are found in licorice and breads, respectively. Plant proteins like pectins and glutens are commonly treated with ammonia for various food applications. I?m less concerned with the ammonia treatment, but more with just how much ammonia a single batch of LFTB requires to make it ?safe.? Levels high enough to raise the product pH to about 9.00 rid the beef of most virulent microorganisms, but batches tested by the New York Times back in 2009 showed pH levels as low as 7.75. So what, that?s not a huge difference, right? The pH scale tracks logarithmically, so a one unit variance actually corresponds to 10 times less ammonia, which might reduce odor but also increases potential bacterial contamination.

Contrary to some news reports, ammonia is not a ?pink chemical,? it?s colorless. Nor does the level of ammonia in meat even approach that found in floor cleaners. For my money, a more worrisome butcher?s helper comes from an entirely different source ? carbon monoxide, which when applied to beef binds to the myoglobin and causes the tissue to develop the reassuring pink color consumers associate with freshness and quality.

One last safety note ? perhaps the few examples of contamination detected really are outliers. Click here for the 40-page USDA checklist meat producers must complete to assess their sterilization measures. This document addresses all production activities, including testing regimens, sampling size, antiseptic washes, lot documentation, and cross-contamination checks. USDA even establishes a maximum target of 0.2% for lot checking; or a tolerance of 2 per thousand lots produced with positive tests (in 2007, positive tests had crept up too high, and USDA cracked down. Higher numbers of failed tests were also noted in Moss?s 2009 Times article). Surprisingly, a chart buried near the middle (p.13) of the checklist indicates that processed beef has a lower overall risk of bacterial contamination relative to standard raw beef.

?That?s the thing?it isn?t freaking labeled.?

Healthy food, healthy kid; USDA

Healthy food, healthy kid; USDA

Microbiologist Gerald Zirnstein, a meat industry critic and the man whose 2002 email inadvertently coined the term ?pink slime,? delivered this rebuttal in a Reuters interview this past weekend. Under current regulations, LFTB does not have to be disclosed separately on labels, with the caveat that USDA allows a 15% maximum of the stuff in any product. However, a generation of parents accustomed to fighting high-fructose corn syrup and artificial dyes argue for inclusion of, at least, ammonia in the final ingredient list. Since manufacturers (and the USDA) consider this a production step, it, too, doesn?t need to be discretely mentioned.

So, besides loose labeling and chemical treatment, what is it about this processed meat that so unnerves customers? Certainly, it doesn?t look like a traditional cut anymore, but then neither does hamburger. The ?slime? moniker doesn?t help matters, nor its public unfamiliarity ? slicing animals into sections has a long history in human culture, but secondary processing of the remains is more recent. Blame cultural context: while steaks, chops, and ribs are on menus everywhere, LFTB is not. Perhaps we haven?t had time to adapt. Yet processed food still fills a necessary societal role ? it?s widely available, inexpensive, and can be fortified with nutrients and vitamins.

But is LFTB really food anymore? I would say yes, in the same way those byproducts from any other organism that we consume are. Surely, most people realize that we set our table every day thanks to the labors of other life forms: honey, from bee regurgitation, yogurt, from bacterial metabolism, and multiple cheeses from calf enzymes (rennets) or via fungal decomposition. Cochineal, a crimson dye still used to color meat products (9CFR, p. 624), comes from the dried, crushed bodies of millions of tiny insects. But, compared to insects and microbes, cows hit closer to home somehow, so we revolt at a meat byproduct we don?t recognize.

So, for my final thoughts: to the beef industry, clearer labeling and heightened public awareness would help to quash some of the squeamishness at LFTB?s inclusion in the food pantheon. And to the schools and parents, well-documented and tested LFTB doesn?t seem to be much more harmful, albeit less nutritious, than the Jell-O we already serve at dessert.

Enjoy your school lunch. Bon app?tit!

musical games . The Gaming Classroom: The Overly-Hyped ...

Video games, tv on pc games, video games.Everyone plays television system games. On the TV, on the computer, in front of you the iPhone, iPad, moreover basically bit of a device that has a screen.I enjoy it everywhere. In New York City where I live, I witness adults playing television set games into the future their phones beneath the undercover exploring to also off of work. You can?t terminology and wording or make phone calls out beneath the subway, thereby 1 can as in existence shout telly games near move the time.Or therefore that?s the approach it certainly to me.We remain producing a rush of the naked speed that experience analyzed near waste matter greater number of it truly is burn time, moreover time with between other further more vital responsibilities, closer to playing games. What somewhere around an address beneath your neighbor, or paying popularity to your surroundings, or ?collecting? your thoughts? These easy aspects of life follow been replaced beneath a vibrant previously program called gaming.Gaming is as a consequence ubiquitous that it has already entered the knowledge item as a technique about training as well as improving student?s have a go with scores.Gaming In The Classroom. It?s not teen that hdtv games bear entered the education system. But the tide has invariably turned also destination continuing an compulsive flood into individuals classrooms.Children stay on resurrection wake up beneath a supposedly large tech classroom under which they keep on being venturing to continue being increasingly even further as well as even more surrounded through games. It seems would like it?s the singular thing that grabs their acceptance these days, thus the education product has established in direction of roam according to the stream moreover bring gaming into the classroom.

One gaming equipment below particular, DimensionU Educational Game Suite, created by means of Tabulus Digita, has compelled whopping strides less than entering the knowledge item furthermore has accomplished some attractive results.Or consequently it seems. This report will remain a 3-part routine discussing the good results of three various data executed spending the DimensionU doll suite onward students K-12.Study #1. Increased Test Scores And A Play On Words An University of Central Florida study observed that students jesus played the games demonstrated improved secure score away pre-test towards post-test (mean spike of 8.07) than students lord did review play the gadget (mean increase of 3.74);.Wait, Not So Fast!Certainly, I sustain minor science that can aid students purchase upper try scores. The United States tropical isle thereby sincerely delinquent below Math, Reading, in addition to Science that gi a small shift tropical isle welcome. But, I?m review joyful with the achieving success of the explanation spotted above.Let?s oneself into the explanation additional deeply.First, the University of Central Florida study damaged the txt ?mean? near define the ?average? uprise below check out scores.Though statisticians debate that there tropical isle a significant version among the usefulness of the of them words, I will study ?mean? below ?average? in opposition to melted my points further more clearly.By getting the text message ?mean? less than secondary analysis infers that the calculation was forced by the totally quantity of all kinds of things make an effort fico score divided through the multitude of tests taken.

We?re nearly discussion about the everyday try out scores of the whole thing the students. It?s Division 101.So, the usual try out rank great through 8.07% with the students the almighty played the enlightening tv games compared toward a 3.74% typical increase less than attempt score a sign the students that did remark perform triumph games.Let?s have this into additionally realistic terms. If we presume that students possessed an ordinary attempt primary of 75 most certainly of 100, subsequently the students jesus played the games substantial toward an usual rank of 81 compared toward a 78 indicative the students that didn?t shout games. Not inappropriate however comment very good either. The truth of the matter isle that largest percentage of the students owned and operated extremely with ordinary grades according to Math until such time as the analysis standard began. So below my opinion, at ultimate the good results stole a ?very low? university student below Math moreover higher him/her when it comes to simply just a ?low? undergraduate beneath Math.Still below-average.I would carry out liked when it comes to follow visible the investigation obtained on top students lord already obtained juncture grades according to Math when it comes to carry move within second study. Why Video Games Are Not The Answer Are we extremely going towards chuck persons trust under the pursuing training of people childrens with television games? That investigation was reached spherical two 9-week periods. And what the achieving success don?t advise one particular unless a particular bathe the full account remote island that a relax of the students managed quite weakened grades under Math.

64% were idea ?very low? below mathematical skill last toward the study.Only 4% were idea high. That means an 8% uprise in math score would still proceed through allowed to remain these students with the ?low? tip of the skill category.Teaching Laziness In The Classroom.I retain little option that increases Math scores.Certainly, these below-average students prefer as uncounted help as they definitely will get. What I fear, destination that they will singular learn ?how closer to learn? below television for computer games.I don?t want video games near become an alternative in opposition to outstanding forms of training that keep valuable nonetheless necessarily less than vogue.Plus, practice has already found towards melted us lazy.Do we require when it comes to coach laziness below the classroom too?How has mankind expanded information through the millennia? From schools math fundamentals around a tv gadget system? Let?s memor overlook how we all arrived on the way to secondary idea within history. It was because some quite good office personnel contributed suggestions near planet that we right now give in in opposition to love using second trendy civilization that we habitat. These ?smart people? weren?t born beneath intelligence, they discerning it through sebaceous in addition to study.Where Are The Hard Facts To Backup Gaming In School?I will as well point out that it has been problematic to give in problematic statistical rank well indicative the significance of gaming in front have a shot at ranking below Math, Reading, plus Science. We remain at this point under it truly is infancy.

Let?s whizz front carefully, skeptically, as well as deliberately. We need to have in opposition to stay conscious that the morale of upcoming generations is at stake here. There?s Another Solution That Few Want To Pay Attention To.We?re searching about solutions less than scientific discipline a sign the whole thing of man difficulty want individual training system.Well, there island a secret that has been according to appearance regarding thousands of times and its great importance can fast stay traced as profoundly spine as the Renaissance Period. The secret remote island toward examine a musical instrument.Learning how when it comes to relax and also play music does memor damage effectively math and also booklets into arrange tv set games in opposition to review each theme or commencing one plus a time.Learning get stimulates both discontinued as well as direct hemispheres of the head at the same time, which accelerates the design of mathematical in addition linguistic intelligences.I?ve been literary mastery approximately how video games convert multi-tasking skilled individual which tropical isle great, but, track has been doing second a measure of hundreds of years. It only doesn?t undertake the ?sexy? appeal of newer, further more technological ways.In Part 2 of extra article, I will connect within more element the superior analysis of DimensionU ahead of time students? attempt scores, in addition to also start off towards abyss the success of mastering tune forward check out scores, acquiring complicated fact and also precise computer file to cheers a clearer comparison.

Online Car Loan Services? How Convenient Are They? | Golden ...

If your shopping around for an auto loan, there are a few different internet services you can take advantage of. Applying for car financing online and getting a credit decision can be fast and trouble free, even if you have limited credit. Most of the time you will receive a decision within the first few days.

Here is what you are going to want to know in order to help you get approved for bad credit auto financing, using an internet service!

The ultimate place to start definitely would be by searching online. There are literally tons of online auto financing companies that will be willing to work with you if you have bad credit or no credit. One type of service connects you directly to an auto finance lender online that will try to save you a nice amount of money if you wind up qualifying for their car loan programs. By going straight to the lender and being lucky enough to get an approval, eliminates the car dealerships commissions and can save you literally thousands of dollars!

The good thing about an internet car loan company like this is that you do not have to go to a physical bank branch. You usually complete the entire process at home by giving your basic auto financing application information, such as employment info, home address and income info etc? Sometimes if you have bad credit you will need to fill out an application at a few other online banks to find the fairest deal.

Typically your approval is based on your gross monthly income amount. underwriters usually also go by your debt to income ratio. If your gross monthly salary is not enough to handle your monthly debt amount, you probably will not get an approval very quickly, no matter how decent your credit is. After all if you are not bringing home enough money to pay your monthly obligations, why would the finance company approve your loan, right?

If you don?t qualify with this type of service, you can always try using an online auto financing service that has a large dealer network who specializes in poor credit car loans. These services mainly work only with auto dealers who have a good track record in car loan for college student approvals. Lets face it, trying this type of service can wind up costing you a lot more money, but in the long run is an extremely convenient way to get approved on an internet auto loans. They send your application to a handful of banks at one time, and do all the shopping around for you, before you even step foot inside the dealership. They can also at times influence a finance company into approving the loan because of the strong relationship they have and the volume of customers they send them. So this kind of service can surely get those hard to approve loans, ?Accepted?!

So do the research, see what truly matches your situation. If you already had a hard journey getting approved in the past going straight to a bank, try using an auto financing service with a auto dealership network and see if this helps. After all, you will not have to pull out your hair filling out 2 or 4 auto loan applications online. You will only complete one application and the car dealer will work their tails off to get you accepted and try to sell you a car.

Searching online for a no credit auto loan should NOT be a difficult thing to do. There are many online services that offer online car loan applications for people with credit problems. eCarLoan.us is one of them!

Chimpanzees have policemen, too

Thursday, March 8, 2012

Conflict management is crucial for social group cohesion, and while humans may still be working out some of the details, new research shows that some chimpanzees engage in impartial, third-party "policing" activity as well.

The full results are published Mar. 7 in the open access journal PLoS ONE. Anthropologists from the University of Zurich, led by Prof. Carel van Schaik and Claudia Rudolf von Rohr, reveal that chimpanzees mediate conflicts between other group members not for their own direct benefit, but to preserve the peace within the group. The authors suggest that this behavior can be regarded as an early evolutionary form of morality.

Until now, this morally motivated behavior in chimpanzees was only ever documented anecdotally. However, the new study now confirms that chimpanzees intervene impartially in a conflict to guarantee the stability of their group, exhibiting prosocial behavior based on an interest in community concern.

This policing activity was rare and generally limited to high-ranking individuals. The researchers also found that the arbiters were more willing to intervene impartially if several quarrelers were involved in a dispute, probably because such conflicts are more likely to jeopardize group peace.

"The interest in community concern that is highly developed in us humans and forms the basis for our moral behavior is deeply rooted. It can also be observed in our closest relatives," concludes Rudolf von Rohr.

Special Forces soldier dies trying to save NC kids

HOPE MILLS, N.C. (AP) ? A decorated Green Beret leapt from the second-story of his burning home early Tuesday, wrapped himself in a blanket and ran back inside in an attempt to save his two young daughters.

Firefighters recovered the body of Chief Warrant Officer Edward Cantrell on the second floor of his North Carolina home, not far from the remains of 6-year-old Isabella and 4-year-old Natalia.

"He never made it back out," said Debbie Tanna, spokeswoman for the Cumberland County sheriff's office.

Cantrell's wife and the girls' mother, Louise, also jumped from the second floor. She was treated and released from a Fayetteville hospital for smoke inhalation. The family dog, a Rottweiler named Sasha, also survived the fire.

Cantrell was a special forces paratrooper who served six tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Friends and relatives gathered to recover what they could from burned-out house in Hope Mills, a small community about a 20-minute drive from the gates of Fort Bragg.

The house, which featured a broad front porch with tall columns, was built in 1920. Tanna said the old home's timbers were likely very dry, causing a fast-moving blaze. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

A sign at the end of the driveway blocked with yellow police tape says "The Cantrells Est. Feb. 7, 2004." Bouquets of flowers and two teddy bears had been placed nearby.

Firefighters from Cotton Volunteer Fire Department, which is less than two miles away, were on the scene within four minutes of receiving the dispatch call. Assistant Chief Kevin Dove said the house was already engulfed in flames.

"They perished before our arrival," said Dove, a veteran firefighter. "It was horrible."

Cantrell, 36, was a member of the 3rd Special Forces Group at Fort Bragg. He held the rank of chief warrant officer 2, which authorized Cantrell to lead half of his 12-member Green Beret team if it was split up, said Lt. Col. April Olsen, a spokeswoman for Army Special Forces Command.

Records show Cantrell joined the Army in 1994, listing a home address in Plant City, Fla. He had one combat deployment to Iraq and five to Afghanistan, returning from the last mission in August, Olsen said.

His record included four Bronze Stars and one Purple Heart, awarded for wounds suffered in a war zone, Olsen said.

"There are no words to express the sorrow felt in our close-knit community when a family suffers such a tragedy," the command said on its Facebook page.

Family members declined interview requests, as did a soldier who served with Cantrell.

Isabella attended nearby Ed V. Baldwin Elementary School. Principal Todd Yardis said the girl's teacher and a grief counselor broke the news of what happened to her classmates shortly after they arrived in the morning.

Yardis said both Cantrell parents had been very active at the school, with Edward Cantrell sometimes stopping by in his Army uniform. He recounted how excited the young girl was when her father returned home from his most recent tour of duty.

"Bella was a very happy, loving girl," Yardis said. "She was one of those students who would run up and hug you around the leg when you passed her class in the hall."

Yardis said Cantrell was a hero for trying to save his girls. The father had recently spoken about retiring from the service, rather than returning overseas and being separated from his family again.

"He talked about wanting to get out of the military and opening his own business," Yardis said. "He wanted to open a tattoo parlor."

Cindy Jacobs, who works at an assisted living home next door, said Louise Cantrell ran to the facility during the fire to get the staff to call 911. Jacobs said she knew the family, especially the mother, who would often stop to make small talk as she drove by. The two girls were often in the car or outside playing.

"She was with those girls all the time," said Jacobs, the executive director of the ARC of Hope Mills. "It's so sad. I can't imagine what she's going through."

Jacobs said she learned Edward Cantrell was in the military when investigators visited to ask about him as part of the procedure for getting a top secret security clearance.

"We knew he was Special Forces," Jacobs said. "He was just a heck of a guy. Very, very friendly."

The girls were energetic children, said Jacobs, who has an active-duty son in the Navy and whose husband is a civilian employee at Fort Bragg. "They were just adorable little girls," she said.
